  • A long haircut is for anyone getting a haircut using only scissors, while a clipper haircut is a haircut using a combination of electric clippers and scissors.

A full-glaze is an all-over color, while a base retouch only covers root grow out (no more than 2"). The full-glaze is a great service if you are wanting to go darker or if you are wanting to change the tone of your current hair. This service is not recommended for lightening your hair more than 2 shades.

In order to go lighter, you will most likely need to book a blonding service. Highlights generally require more frequent maintenance, while a balayage requires very little maintenance.

  • At Poppy, we welcome all clients! However, all guests must be able to sit quiet and still for the duration of their appointment. Everyone is required to wear a cape and must be able to sit on their own in the chair.

We do not have a "kids cut" on our menu, as a haircut is a haircut and requires the same amount of time and effort. Please book them for a long haircut for a haircut done with scissors or a clipper haircut for styles cut with electric clippers.

  • All guests are welcome at Poppy, and we do have a small selection of toys for any little ones. However, we have many clients who come to the salon to relax and to treat themselves to self-care and we aim to keep a quiet and relaxing environment for them.

  • The frequency of hair services depends on various factors, including hair type, style, and personal preferences. Generally, haircuts are recommended every 4 to 8 weeks to maintain shape and manage split ends, while color treatments may require touch-ups every 4 to 6 weeks to keep the color vibrant and roots blended. For those with shorter styles or precision cuts, more frequent trims may be necessary to maintain the desired look. Conversely, individuals with longer hair or low-maintenance styles may opt for longer intervals between appointments. Ultimately, the ideal frequency of hair services varies for each individual and should be discussed with your stylist to create a customized maintenance plan that suits your lifestyle and hair goals.

  • The longevity of hair toner and hair color depends on several factors, including the type of toner or color used, hair porosity, hair care routine, and environmental exposure. Typically, hair toner can last anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks, with some toners fading gradually over time.

Hair color, whether permanent, semi-permanent, or demi-permanent, usually fades over time due to shampooing, sun exposure, heat styling, and other environmental factors. On average, clients can expect their hair color to last between 4 to 8 weeks before noticeable fading occurs. However, this timeline can vary depending on individual factors and the specific characteristics of the color formula used.

  • To extend the longevity of hair toner and color, clients can take steps such as using color-safe and sulfate-free salon-quality hair care products, minimizing exposure to chlorine and UV rays, and avoiding excessive heat styling. Additionally, scheduling regular touch-up appointments with your stylist can help maintain vibrant and fresh-looking hair color for longer period.

  • The lifespan of hair extensions can vary depending on several factors, including the type of extensions, the method of application, the quality of the hair, and how well they are cared for. Generally, high-quality human hair extensions can last anywhere from 3 to 12 months with proper maintenance and care. However, some extensions, such as tape-in or clip-in extensions, can be reused multiple times and may last up to a year or longer with proper care.

To maximize the lifespan of your extensions, it's essential to follow a regular maintenance routine, including gentle washing, conditioning, and detangling, as well as avoiding excessive heat styling and harsh chemical treatments. Additionally, scheduling regular touch-up appointments with your stylist to adjust or reapply the extensions can help ensure they continue to look their best.

Ultimately, the longevity of your extensions will depend on how well they are cared for and how frequently they are worn. With proper maintenance and care, you can enjoy beautiful, long-lasting extensions for months to come.

  • The frequency of extension maintenance, including moving up and reinstalling, depends on several factors such as the type of extensions, your hair growth rate, and the method of application. Generally, most extension methods require maintenance every 4 to 6 weeks to keep them looking their best.

For tape-in extensions, maintenance typically involves removing and reapplying the extensions closer to the roots as your natural hair grows out. This process helps maintain a seamless blend and prevents discomfort or damage from the extensions pulling on your hair.

Similarly, for fusion or bonded extensions, you may need to have them moved up and reinstalled every 4 to 6 weeks to ensure they remain securely attached to your natural hair and to prevent matting or tangling.

Clip-in extensions, on the other hand, can be removed and reinstalled as needed, depending on your styling preferences and haircare routine.

It's essential to follow your stylist's recommendations for extension maintenance and schedule regular touch-up appointments to keep your extensions looking their best and to prevent any potential damage to your natural hair. By staying consistent with maintenance appointments, you can enjoy beautiful, long-lasting extensions while protecting the health and integrity of your hair.

  • Maintaining hair extensions is crucial for keeping them looking beautiful and prolonging their lifespan. Here are some tips on how to care for your hair extensions:

Gentle Washing: Use a sulfate-free and hydrating shampoo and conditioner specifically formulated for extensions. Gently massage the shampoo into the roots and scalp, avoiding harsh rubbing or tugging on the extensions. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water to remove any product buildup.

Conditioning Treatment: Apply a nourishing conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends of the hair, focusing on the extensions. Leave the conditioner on for a few minutes to allow it to penetrate the hair shaft and hydrate the strands. Rinse thoroughly with cool water to seal the hair cuticles and enhance shine.

Detangling: Use a wide-tooth comb or a special loop brush designed for extensions to gently detangle the hair, starting from the ends and working your way up to the roots. Avoid pulling or tugging on the extensions to prevent damage or breakage.

Drying: Pat the hair extensions dry with a soft towel to remove excess water, being careful not to rub or twist the hair. Avoid using heat styling tools on wet extensions, as this can cause damage. Allow the extensions to air dry whenever possible or use a low heat setting on a blow dryer if needed.

Styling: Use heat protectant products before using any heat styling tools on your extensions to prevent heat damage. Avoid applying styling products directly to the roots of the extensions, as this can cause them to become weighed down or greasy.

Boar Bristle Brush: Use a boar bristle brush to gently smooth and style your extensions, as it helps distribute natural oils from the scalp to the ends of the hair, leaving it looking shiny and healthy.

By following these simple care tips and using the right products and tools, you can keep your hair extensions looking fabulous and feeling soft and manageable for longer. Remember to treat your extensions with care and gentleness to maintain their quality and ensure they remain a beautiful addition to your hairstyle.
